PROGRAMS & SERVICES:


Achieving Maximum Potential (AMP)

Youth-driven, statewide group for youth ages 13 and up who have been involved in foster care, adoption or other out-of-home placements.


Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS)
The program provides intensive skilldevelopment, counseling and referral services to families who are experiencing challenges with their child’s disruptive behaviors connected to mental health needs. “BHIS” are funded by Magellan of Iowa; therefore, the child must be on Title 19 insurance, and services must be pre-authorized by Magellan.


Brief Intensive Services
Offers in-home assistance to families with children ages 6 - 17 who reside in Des Moines, Henry, Lee and Louisa Counties who have no involvement with the Department of Human Services or Juvenile Court Services.


Child Welfare Emergency Services
Emergency crisis response services to resolve the immediate crisis and teach the skills necessary for the family to remain safely together. Referrals are from the Department of Human Services, Juvenile Court Services or Law Enforcement agencies.


Family Team Meetings
The program provides Family Team Meetings for families referred by the Department of Human Services to engage families and participants to find strength-based, permissible solutions to situations that the family is currently engaged in.


Female Specific Life Skills
The program strives to enhance interpersonal adjustment, reduce law violations, and prevent out-of-home placements for teenage girls in Des Moines County. The core service is provided through group sessions that also include individual and family sessions. Services are provided at no cost to the family and are funded through a grant provided through Juvenile Court Services.


Iowa Aftercare Services
The Iowa Aftercare Services Network is a statewide initiative funded by the Iowa Department of Human Services to address the needs of young adults who have aged-out of foster care.


Preschool Support Program
The Preschool Program serves families with children ages 4-5 in Des Moines and Louisa Counties. Services include in-home visitation, parent workshops, educating parents about child development, nurturing and attachment, and healthy family functioning. Services are provided at no cost to the family and are funded by Early Childhood Iowa Area Board.


Private Pay Adoptive Services
Young House Family Services offers comprehensive adoption services, including:

  • Home studies for private fee
  • Post placement services
  • Birth parent counseling
  • Adoptive Placement Services


Special Needs Adoption Services
Special needs adoption services provided to State guardianship children through Department of Human Services.


Youth At Risk School Based Program
Provides individualized counseling services within the school setting to students who are deemed to be “at risk” by school personnel.
